Florida Medication Technician (Med Tech) Training
Extraordinary Healthcare Resources provides medication assistance training designed to help eligible assisted living facility staff understand safe medication practices, documentation responsibilities and the proper role of unlicensed personnel assisting residents with self-administration of medication.
6-Hour Initial Medication Assistance Training
Florida law requires assisted living facility staff who assist residents with self-administration of medication to complete a minimum of 6 additional hours of training before providing that assistance. The required training must be provided by a registered nurse or licensed pharmacist.
2-Hour Annual Continuing Education
After the initial training requirement is met, applicable staff must complete 2 hours of continuing education annually. EHR offers medication training options designed around these Florida assisted living facility requirements.
Medication Assistance Topics
Training focuses on the responsibilities and limitations of assisting with self-administration of medication, medication safety, documentation, medication practices, recognizing concerns and following facility procedures. Course content is maintained in alignment with applicable Florida requirements.
Designed for Assisted Living Facility Staff
This training is intended for eligible unlicensed staff working in Florida assisted living facilities when their job duties include assisting residents with self-administration of medication. Completion of a course does not expand a staff member’s legal scope of practice or authorize duties that otherwise require a licensed healthcare professional.
Instructor-Led Training & Flexible Scheduling
EHR medication administration training is offered as live instructor-led education. Class dates are scheduled based on enrollment. Participants may contact EHR for current registration and scheduling information. Class date, time and training location are confirmed as part of the registration process. Saturday classes are available upon request.
Training for Facilities and Groups
Assisted living facilities may also contact EHR regarding group training for staff. Training options can be discussed based on facility needs, staff size and scheduling.
Register for Medication Administration Training
The 6-Hour Medication Administration Training is $100 and the 2-Hour Medication Administration Refresher is $50. Participants interested in registering should contact EHR for current scheduling and enrollment instructions. Participants in the 2-hour refresher may be scheduled for a dedicated refresher session or may attend the applicable refresher portion of a 6-hour class when refresher enrollment is limited.
